Causes, Removal and Restoration of Mold Damage

Dallas mold damage remediation is no easy task, and for most homeowners, there can be much confusion about the process and equipment involved in mold remediation. Some homeowners may also not know how to identify the source of mold growth or even the true nature of the colony. SERVPRO can help to explain, repair, and remediate mold damage in your home, and neutralize the source of its growth.
What Causes Mold Damage
Mold damage in Dallas is typically a result of a water leak somewhere in the home, or a side effect from a recent damaging storm. Mold requires a damp, organic material base to grow on, making wall interiors and flooring which has been affected by water damage a prime target.

How Mold is Removed
Before anything else, the source of the water damage is neutralized, and the air is dehumidified, so that no new mold growth can occur. Next, depending on the size of the mold growth, the affected area may need a thorough scrubbing or perhaps an entire replacement. Mold can chew through many materials given time, and if it is not a recently developed colony, you may have damage to the materials in your home as well. Regardless, mold is visually removed from the area, then the area is sanitized along with the air, and finally fogging machines are brought in to remove any remaining odors that many types of mold leave behind.
After most mold has been removed (removing all mold spores from a property is not just impossible, but also unnatural), SERVPRO will begin the process of restoration, replacing any wall, floor, or fabric materials which may have been touched by the mold growth. Materials such as carpeting, non-laminated wood, or tile grout are all commonly-replaced materials. Don't worry too much about this: typically only a section of the material will need to be entirely replaced.
