SERVPRO Brings Professional Water Damage Restoration to Southeast Dallas Homeowner

SERVPRO techs received a call to handle flood restoration in a Southeast Dallas home. The homeowner was referred to SERVPRO by her insurance company for the needed water damage cleanup in the house. The flood caused widespread damage to the property. The homeowner was very pleased that the SERVPRO technicians arrived an hour and a half after her phone call to begin the water damage restoration services in her home.

SERVPRO technicians got to work immediately extracting the water and moved out important items to the homeowner, such as some of her prized antiques. The first part of the water damage restoration services focused on removing items from the home so they could not get damaged from the pooled water and elevated humidity levels inside the house, also known as a "pack-out." Moving the items allows them to undergo cleaning and drying outside the worksite area for reuse in the home once the flood restoration efforts in the Southeast Dallas property are completed.

Another benefit of SERVPRO's pack-out service in Southeast Dallas homes is that it removes items from harm's way during a flood restoration. Still, it frees up the affected rooms so that the SERVPRO technicians have more space to bring in their professional extraction equipment to work unimpeded by furnishings. Even though there was widespread flood damage throughout the Southeast Dallas home, the homeowner was pleasantly surprised to find that SERVPRO could pack out her house in less than two days, including working a team during the day and overnight.

In the video, some of SERVPRO's drying equipment is seen behind the Southeast Dallas homeowner as the flood restoration in her home is still ongoing at the time of the filming. The homeowner was able to rent the house next door to her Southeast Dallas home during the water damage remediation by SERVPRO, making it easier to go back and forth and check on the progress, as her house was uninhabitable after the flood damage.

Evidence of flood cuts on the wall behind her and removing an outlet before the controlled demolition occurs on the other wall is apparent in the Southeast Dallas property. This is a common occurrence in homes with flood damage. The reason for this happening is that once sheetrock comes into contact with moisture, the building materials readily absorb it and begin pulling it upward through the core. This action causes rapid deterioration that has zero restoration potential. To halt the wicking process from ruining entire walls, SERVPRO techs perform flood cuts that remove only the ruined portion of the walls, leaving the solid, undamaged section alone.

After the end of the flood restoration services in this Southeast Dallas property, SERVPRO techs got to perform one of the most rewarding parts of a restoration service, bringing the previously packed-out contents back into the home cleaned and restored. SERVPRO technicians took notes for the location of each item, and that is exactly where each piece gets returned to so the homeowners can have their Southeast Dallas home back and get life back to normal.
